The red balloon .

 A couple of weeks ago my class read a book about a unicorn this unicorn wanted to be a star so she pretended to be someone who she wasn't . Using this inspiration we created our own stories . Next time I will add in more at the end of the story . I enjoyed writing about a unique story of my own .

Planning

It was a bright and sunny day in whangamata and a nice short man was handing out balloons . There was one special balloon in particular that everyone liked , it was the red one. He was a delight . He was tied to a sign so that he couldn’t fly away . But somehow he found a way . He flew high into the sky and swooped and swirled away into an adventure . He waved goodbye to his beloved friends . Then swooped into the distance . He was planning on only seeing the rest of the beach but then the wind pushed him all around the town . The wind died down and he thought he would make his way back to the little cart when suddenly, A big gush of wind made him float and float . Then he was asleep . Slowly drifting in the air , while he is soundly asleep .

He wakes up and finds himself staring at the eiffel tower watching people propose and tourists taking a billion photos . He finds himself staring at a little mini gift shop. Out of all the gift shops in paris he chose “ tout gratuitement ” which means everything for free in french . He of course thinking of his friends grabbed all the stuff that was on trend . He began to like it here but then of course a big gush of wind wooooooooshed him over the ocean halfway to america when suddenly he began to drop he dropped a few trinkets and began to float again he kept dropping them and dropping them then when he only had about three things in his hand he made it to america .

He drifts slowly in the hot texan breeze . Then sooner or later he drifts into Washington D.C. and finds himself at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave . The white house . he goes passed the high gates and finds himself staring into the eyes of president Donald . J . Trump . He got out of there as fast as he could . Before he popped me and made a tweet about it . I didn't know where I was going but I was . Before long I had fallen asleep and was drifting south and the wind was blowing me toward what looked like a little beach yes it was it was whangamata I was close to home . I grabbed all the little trinkets up in my hand and boosted toward the cart .

I’m back He yelled “ I’m Back “ but no-one seemed to care he was just there . when he got closer he saw the blue balloon on his sign the sign that was his he couldn’t believe his eyes . He went back to all the other balloons and they didn’t seem to care either . it was like they didn't want him back . when he got back he was secluded he felt very excluded he decided to give them gifts because he had nothing to do with the gifts .

Then he sat alone in fear that no-one would like him .

The girl who cried teacher .

A couple of weeks ago we read a book about a pug that lied . So using that as an inspiration we wrote stories about people that lied . Whilst doing this I enjoyed coming up with a unique catch and storyline . Next time I will write more

 The girl who cried Teacher

Alexis was a liar . She didn't care about others. She thought life was all fun and games . Alexis only lied about one thing and that was … when the teacher was coming !. As you know children like to talk a lot and when the teacher is gone it's their time to shine! Alexis was the lookout , She liked shouting across the room like a crazy person, in fact she loved it so much that she would do it even when it's unnecessary .

Sometimes the Teacher (Miss White)would leave for fifteen minutes at a time and every five minutes she would shout “THE TEACHER’S COMING” and then have a chuckle to herself . She would do this from dawn to dusk as she loved watching their faces go completely white like a ghost and then them going dead silent. Only to begin talking again seconds later . A Whole term went by and Alexis still lied. Her other classmates had another girl look out her name was Peyton, Peyton was always right on time.

One day Peyton was away : The class decided to trust in Alexis one more time. However … She tricked them, she waited and waited and before she was even there she shouted out “THE TEACHER’S COMING”  They went silent. Five minutes passed and no-one came.Five minutes later the teacher came back but just before that she shouted  “ ALERT ALERT EDUCATOR APPROACHING “ . They just laughed and continued to talk . She shouted again “ I’M SERIOUS SHE’S COMING “but... They just continued talking .

Just then she (The Teacher) stormed into the class that was “oh so perfect “ to the noise of screaming , yelling and laughing . “ what is wrong with you people “ she shouted at the top of her lungs . She gave them all detention for the whole week …

including the weekend .

Alexis got angry as she was supposed to go on a trip that weekend , she wondered to herself “ Why did no-one believe me ? “ It turns out she had said it out loud everyone yapped in her ear saying “ Because you lie all the time so we didn’t believe you “ .

From that day on Alexis stopped lying .

The Life of a leaf

This week we read a story about a goldfish . We then decided to write our own story as if we were and object we recounted some of "our" lives as the object I chose to do a leaf this is my story .

It was a sunny day in new zealand the children were laughing and the leaves were falling in fact I was falling .  It was the first time I had ever been off the tree before . i was falling down , down , down . I woke up in the tree alone . Normally there are dozens of people with me but today there was only one a new leaf that had just been born about five weeks old so that leaf still had a strong stem I however had been born seven weeks before this . I tried to look down but then I began getting closer and closer to the ground then KABOOM ! I reached the ground lying lifelessly amongst others like me I saw my best friend lying upside down on the floor next to me .  I looked up at the five week old leaf just sitting there getting weaker and weaker suddenly she falls . I watch as she gracefully flips and twirls around in the air then gracefully landing amongst the rest of us . 

Suddenly , A huge gust of wind sweeps us all up and we soar into the sky . All of us leaves together formed a shape of a bird so that people don't get suspicious we flew and soared into a safe place . under a tree that had leaves similar in colour to us we were the colour yellow, some red , and others were orange  . The whole group landed except me I kept going I landed on a front lawn of a lady she seemed fairly nice until she picked me up and put this hot substance onto me it came out of what looked like a gun it was sticky like glue . I worked like glue to . I quickly got suck down onto a canvas and pressed firmly so that i didn't fall off . However as soon as the people left I tried to move with all my might but I just couldn’t .

Once the people moved I got left in the basement to rot and to collect dust but eventually I got taken out and set free in fact I almost fell of on my own but just need one little touch to help me . I was free and she had the windows open and the fan going this was my was out or so I thought my so called friend that let me go just wanted to trap me again . but I got away just in time . It felt like I was flying forever but really it was only about five minutes on the way i picked up a couple of other leaves along the way they must have gotten a lot of light because they shone like the sun . on my “big” journey I tore almost halfway down my spine and suddenly started to drop . whilst I was falling I saw a man a big huge scary man that looked like he had huge feet and would like to stamp on me . I fell and just as i had suspected he lifted up his giant foot and slam he stomped on me , I was crushed . 

I couldn’t move for the life of me . I knew this was the end .

While doing this I enjoyed looking for information in new ways such as people and sites . Next time I will try harder to understand the topic more . 

Gymnastics Dance

This term we have been looking at gymnastics for our PE. With a buddy or group we created a gymnastics dance. One thing that I thing my group did well was preforming the dance.

 Next time I think we could use something on the ground so we don't have to cut our feet and the ground out.

Is graffiti art or Messy ?

I believe that graffiti is a form of art this is because  graffiti is a bold statement and is for those brave enough to deal with the consequences. Most people are trying to spread a message or trying to make themselves well known. Do you think that they spread a positive message ?

what do you think of when you think “ Graffiti ” ? Well most people think of tags being messy and unnecessary but really they need to have more light shone on them . Did you know that people get paid millions of dollars just to do graffiti on a blank wall : like banksy for example his net worth is estimated to be around $50million just because he did graffiti around the world.  This means that graffiti is a big thing especially when it’s done like banksy he uses stencils to create inspiring messages about things that need to change in the world today . Things like wars , Homeless people , Politics and the environment .

Although people may think that graffiti is messy ; Some people like me think that it’s art .

People like colourful walls and some people don’t those people are the people that clean it up even though there is nothing to clean up because it's unnecessary it would be  a colourful town without  people that clean up. You don’t see people cleaning up the welcome to christchurch sign the one that people go paid to do . To me that’s not right we all have the right to create . although we can create on paper drawing on walls and drawing on houses is much more open and we can share it with more people . We have the right to share with others  . Most of the artthat happens spreads and inspiring message not only banksy’s work . They either write their name or other things that they identify as .  Most people are smart and they do their tagging at night or under supervision so they don’t get caught this means that people actually have to think and be strategic .

The people that take the risk are just trying to make the city more colourful because anything is better than a blank wall especially when people like colour which I think everyone does . There are plenty of blank walls in the city and around everywhere . Most people would think that the cities with blank walls are the more higher power or the richer neighbourhoods because there isn't hood rats or people willing that are stupid enough to do graffiti .  But really everyone gets graffiti no- matter how much money you have graffiti is going to be around in some point of your life. The reason people think that higher powered people don’t get graffiti is because they can clean it up faster or they have high-tech security systems .

Take hornby for example it’s graffiti central so you would think but no actually riccarton has more graffiti than hornby based on a study that the christchurch city council did recently .

This means that although people judge hornby to be a graffiti filled city it’s absolutely not even richer families in riccarton could be the culprit they could be doing the tags that you find messy . the wealthier families that tag and create the tags that make people find graffiti messy merely for satisfaction. This is changing people's opinion when we should all think of it as art , as what it is .

In conclusion art is a bold statement .  That people use all the time to create the image of themselves through words or through an image . Taggers as you would call them create names for themselves by tagging

This week we were learning about freedom in our writing . We read a book called Dreams Of Freedom , This book has many authors as it had quotes from many inspiring people like the dalai lama , Anne Frank and Claire balding all of these quotes were about not being judged and being accepted we had to come up with our own picture and quote just like the  book .

  I like this because we all have different shapes and sizes and no-one should be judged for it . Next time I will add in more creativeness and will link it more to what we were learning about .

Simplicity

Next time I will not trail off in my writing and will try to link everything together . I enjoyed Drawing a picture and thinking should I make it complex or simple .

The two girls stared at the wall wondering why it makes such a big effect on them.  When it is so simple . The black and white wall is so simple yet so complex . They go closer to the plaque and see that it was made by an accountant whose mother had just passed away due to stress. The artist said that some things need to be simple in life . The girl on the right called Delilah felt a certain chill as if she was supposed to be here looking at the painting , as if she needed to take everything from that plaque in and remember . The paintings were beautiful but messy , messy but simple .  The simplicity of the paintings make the world feel full . Even though she knew that the world was an empty hearted place when she looked at that painting she felt like there wasn’t war going on like there wasn’t children being forced to work in different countries , she felt like there was no sin in the world . Because she had this feeling she decided she had to meet up with the artist to ask her how she made her feel that way . so she went to her trusty sidekick ,the internet  . She was so surprised that the internet let out so much private information . She got her phone number her address and her full name .

The artist's name was “ coincidentally “ Delilah Rose Maye which was The same as her . It wasn’t until she looked at the address she noticed that it was her . She went to her mother's grave and asked for answers . But she heard silence . She then thought what if I painted it in my sleep . She went back to the gallery to investigate and what she found out is astonishing . The painting was admitted into the gallery the night she found out her mother had passed away . She then asked the owner f the art gallery if she could see security tapes of May 5 2017 because that was the day that she supposedly admitted the painting into the gallery . They said yes . On the camera to her surprise was a video of her Delilah rose maye giving the painting to the front desk in her Pajamas . She then went back home to test if her painting skills were as good as they are in the painting on the wall of the gallery . She got out her old easel and painting kit and gave it a go it wasn’t nearly as good or as symmetry as the other one. So from that day she vowed to only paint with her eyes closed .

Petroleum what would we do without it ?

W.A.L.T ... Understand what could happen if we ran out of petroleum

This week we were writing about what would happen if we ran out of petrol tomorrow . While doing this I enjoyed learning about what could happen in the years to come . Next time I will try to stay on topic .

If the world ran out of petroleum we would not have many resources to live off especially not cars although this may make a big negative impact this could be a good thing.  We could help Sealife and help prevent future wars however we would have limited amounts of transport and plastic would no longer be around

Without plastic we could not do many things. When you watch television, use a computer, ride in a bus, train, or plane, you are using plastics. This is a funny thing because most people think that we don’t need plastic because we only use it for utensils and containers but realistically we use plastic for much more important things. We use plastic in our everyday lives and we don’t even know it . Did you know that there is even plastic in water it is a plastic called PVC and polyethylene, polyethylene is the most common plastic around . PVC is another type of plastic that is transformed into microscopic grains . Without plastic we could die . Plastic is a necessity and even plastic bags are better than anything we would possibly swap it out with. Paper bags are even worse for our environment than plastic because paper lasts longer in a landfill and plastic has a better carbon footprint than any other alternative.  Although plastic travels a long way before it decomposes it can also stay strong for things like cars .

Cars have plastic in them and on them how else would we get around. Did you know that a number of car parts are made using recycled plastics. If your car has plastic on the outside you are less likely to get a noticeable dent or a ding  also because plastic is lighter than most materials car manufacturers use plastic in a lot of their cars and that’s why today’s average light vehicle contains 332 pounds of plastics , that's 150 Kgs that mean that in a car with a full tank of petrol there would be 432 pounds of petrol in that car  alone, can you imagine not having cars around anymore ? we would have to establish a whole new purpose for roads or just eliminate them all together.

Whilst eliminating them we will eliminate harm to all sea life because there would be no toxic oil spills in the ocean and not as much plastic this would mean that we would have twice as much sea animals as we do now this is because we would not be killing the sea life which would give the animals time to reproduce and create more so that sea life doesn't plummet towards extinction as it is now . Did you know that there has been 20 animals extinct in the past 200 years that's a whole species we will never get back .

Throughout this i hope that you have learnt something new about sea life plastic and what could happen if we lost petrol in all of the world . There are some things that could make such a positive impact on us but some that make our whole life change .

Fair test !

This term my class has been learning about mould. Then with what we know about mould we did a fair test this means that everything is the same except one thing we had to test to see what on would grow the most mould these are my results.

While doing this I enjoyed talking with my peers to find out what we would test. 

Next time I would change how big it was as I think this is why no mould grew.

Trapped and alone

W.A.L.T... The past two weeks we have been writing two descriptive paragraphs about what we see in the photo below. while doing this i enjoyed trying to come up with descriptive language that will match with the word. Next time I will try to experiment with new sentences. 

Through the rustling trees and the dying flowers the howling wind went sweeping all the life out of nature. The howling wind went as fast as the speed of sound,chasing the old ragged man until it stopped right outside an old abandoned cabin to which the man was now lying in , lying there on the dusty hardwood floors all alone . He barely made it in there before the wind caught him . He’s lying on the floor in hope that there is help somewhere in this house . Whilst waiting he lay there in a silent house with nothing but rotting wood and an infestation of rats and cockroaches . All alone in the world ,in life, and in this home that isn’t even his.

Silence filled the rooms and nothing else only a ragged old man who was covered in mud. He was worn down and exhausted he could barely stand . He worked up the strength to get up and look through the dirty plastic window to see if it was over and to his surprise it was he felt the gentle sun beams stroking his face . While he was up he decided to stumble around the house looking for help . In the kitchen nothing only a worn down oven and moldy bread it looked as if no-one had been in there in centuries . But in the corner was a little girl weeping. She looked up and jumped into his arms it was his daughter. He managed to get a smile on his face and they waked out of there together.

Biography Report

This is my biography on John Grisham While doing this I enjoyed researching John Grisham and learning more about the famous author. Next time I will add in more information about my writer.

John Grisham

John grisham was born on the eighth of february in 1995 this makes him age 62. He was born in jonesboro , Arkansas , United states of america. He was born to mother Wanda skidmore Grisham who worked as a homemaker and Father John Grisham who worked in construction as you may realise John was named after his father. Currently John Grisham is married to Renee Jones. They have no children together and none of them have children with others.

When John was younger he dreamed to be a professional baseball player, When he realized he wasn’t good enough to go pro he switched careers and went to mississippi state university to major in accounting . After that he went on to become a lawyer by graduating from Ole miss in 1981. Once graduating from Ole miss he went to south haven to study for over a decade  specializing in criminal defense and personal injury litigation. In 1983 he was elected to the state house of representatives he served until 1990 which is until he was 35. When he was a little older he came across a case and thought if I put a twist on this could I write a book ? so he  began getting up at 5 a.m. every day to get in several hours of writing time before heading off to work, Grisham spent three years on A Time to Kill and finished it in 1987. The genre of the first book he wrote is a legal thriller . The novel was originally rejected by many publishers before wynwood press finally gave it a modest 5,000 copy printing they published it in june of 1988.

For John this was a new hobby but what he didn’t know is that it would turn into a lifetime career. By the time wynwood press finally published it he was already on his second book as it took them a whole year just to publish it. In fact once he finished his first book a time to kill he almost immediately started a new book the story of a young attorney lured to an apparently perfect law firm that was not what it appeared. When he sold the film rights to paramount pictures he gained $600,000 , book rights were bought by Doubleday.John Grisham's books spent 47 weeks straight on the new york times bestsellers list The firm (his second book) became the bestselling novel of 1991.

Since writing his first novel A time to kill in 1988 he has written one book each year totalling over 40 books . All of these 40 and more books have been international books and for all of his books he has collected over 220 million dollars over his years. He has also turned 13 of his books into movies. One of his movies made over 3.75 million for just one movie . Right now there are over 300 million copies of each of john grisham's books , also all of his books have been translated into over 40 languages. Grisham took time off from writing for numerous months in 1996 to return, after a five-year interval, to the courtroom. He was honoring a commitment made before he had retired from the law to become a full-time writer. On his last case he confidently represented the family of a railroad brakeman who was killed whilst pinned in between two cars. He prepared his case with the same energy . passion and dedication as he does when writing a book. Because of his dedication to the case grisham successfully won his case , This flowed in over $650,000 - this was the biggest verdict of his career.

John grisham has many qualities other than Writing and being an advocate he dedicates a lot of time to charitable causes. His most recent helping included raising over 8.8 million dollars to help with the rebuilds to do with hurricane katrina. He also keeps up with his childhood dream baseball  The six ballfields he built on his property have played host to over 350 kids on 26 Little League teams.

While doing this I learned that I can't change overnight into a serious literary author. You can't compare apples to oranges. William Faulkner was a great literary genius. I am not.

I also learned that I'm not itching to sue Amazon or Wal-Mart... they sell a lot of books. But the future is very uncertain with books.

while doing this I enjoyed researching to find more about mould it was very fascinating. Next time I will do more in my planning.

Planning

Have you ever wondered how mould forms ? Well if you have then keep reading. Mould can form on just anything. It can form on that old sandwich in your bag those wet shoes by the back door or even on the  curtains in the living room. Mould starts of as a tiny spore which is invisible to the naked human eye.

Just through reading that did you think what is a spore ?

Well a spore is a one celled reproductive unit that has the ability to create a new type of mould.The spores are made by , and released from , a body that is visible above the ground , by body I mean anything you can see like that yummy birthday cake , Your favourite t-shirt or even your favourite chips. This means that wherever you are there could be a spore around you or maybe even on you. In the next paragraph you will learn about the process of mould and how it grows and forms .

It all starts of as a spore that spore then floats around and lands on something in this case let's say the thing that is it landing on is a an apple this apple will have to have hyphae on it this is released from trees which will pair up with the spores and create mould. However sometimes mould can just grow,this is because  there are many threads growing in or on  an organic food source. These threads are called hyphae . Hyphae oozes out chemicals that then breaks down the food. When this happens the organic matter releases nutrients that the hyphae then absorbs.once the hyphae has absorbed the nutrients the hyphae releases the fungi that creates mould..

Once  the hyphae and the spore have landed the mould needs moisture to grow For mould to grow you must have moisture. Mould cannot grow in dry places .Moulds are fungi that can be found indoors and outdoors. Moulds grow best in warm and damp conditions, and spread and reproduce by making spores. Mould spores can survive bad environmental conditions like  snow  and dry conditions that do not support normal mold growth.

Then over time the spore and hyphae will create mould. Different hyphae can create different mould. Some molds are toxic like bathroom mould this mould is black and can be dangerous. Once mould has grown it then releases spores. This is an ongoing cycle that will never end.

While doing this I enjoyed summarizing it into my own word.Next time I will add in more about my culture.

whilst doing this I enjoyed finding  facts about the Siberian tiger and learning the conservation status's and what they mean.

Whilst doing this I liked coming up with photos that relate to the picture. However next time I would like to get more in depth by writing about what we happened on these days instead of just a timeline .

Under the Rug

This week we had Miss St john in our class for writing we did a free writing session inspired by Harris Burdick's drawing of under the rug whilst doing this i enjoyed getting creative and using my imagination . Next time I will make it happier and less gruesome.

Under the rug

I walked in and there he was my father there on the floor lifeless He must have slipped the police said but i thought otherwise. That day when I walked in I saw something , something sinister. I tried to tell the police but they didn't believe me they thought i was a nut bar . After they told me i was a psychopath I went back to the house to get evidence Once i walked in i immediately felt a chill down my spine it was almost as if it just got 100 degrees colder. As I walked through what felt like the antarctic I noticed that things were out of place the pictures were crooked and the dog was barking at the rug I took a photo and there she was exactly what I thought she was. A demon she was crawling right toward me but when I took the camera away it was just my lifeless father. I cracked the case I called the police immediately and they  came running. When they got here they looked at what I had done. The chief cop said get Elise i had no idea what he was talking about  but then this lady came in and said “ everyone around the table” so we all jumped into the seats and held hands so Elise could summon the demon out of my dad's body. I was the most eager for this to happen so I did everything Elise said. Hoping that my father would come back and sadly he did but he still had a demon attached to his house but luckily my dad was back and it was a big happy ending until two weeks later the same thing happened to the couple that moved into my dad's house. Everything the same but worse.

Bedmas

Walt...understand what bed mas is. It is Brackets,Exponent,division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. While doing his i enjoyed coming up with example. next time I will try to explain it more.

Private Screening.

This week we are learning to Use correct structure for a recount. We wrote a recount about a movie we saw, Books we read over the holidays, and about our holidays in general.Throughout doing this I enjoyed almost re-living the funny moments that happened in this recount. Next time I will add in more details about how I feel and how the movie was.

Beauty and the beast

In the holidays Tatiana (my Cousin) and I, went to Riccarton mall for a private screening of beauty and the beast .We did this at about twelve but we were at the mall by ten in the two hours that we were waiting we did all sorts of things,the first thing we did  was get some treats from pak n save as they are very expensive . The second thing that we did was get Starbucks , whilst drinking them we walked around the mall waiting for the time to be right .Then suddenly I looked at the time and to my surprise it was already twelve thirty , I told Tatiana and we both sprinted like Usain bolt and “asked are we too late ?” then amazingly he said you're right on time. I looked at him in astonishment. As we walked up the hall wondering what had happened my cousin reminded me that we swapped the time to thirty minutes more so we wouldn't be late .I guess we didn't think that out. We got into the theater and started climbing across all the chairs then we saw other people what had happened ,it was at that moment that I realized we were in the wrong theater we sprinted out of their theater with laughter and embarrassment we sat right in the middle of the theater for the whole time. I was happy we were there in our own theater. Once the movie had finished we got out to see my Uncle , Sister and other cousin were waiting for us. While we waited for our aunt to pick us up we got Zuzu's gelato I loved it , it was delicious while eating it I thought about my day and realized it was quite fun filled. Overall this day was and I am happy to say that this day happened.
